August 5th, 2021, The new Saskatchewan Immigration draw targeted candidates with work experience in one of 65 occupations.
Saskatchewan Immigration invited 452 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination on August 5, 2021.
The invitations went to candidates who may be eligible for a nomination from the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), specifically from the International Skilled Worker category. Of those invited, 171 may be eligible for the SINP’s Express Entry subcategory, and 281 through the Occupations In-Demand sub-category.
Occupations In-Demand subcategory
SINP’s The Occupations In-Demand subcategory is a base category of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and it helps select applicants who do not have a profile under the Express entry system.
It is a subcategory for highly skilled workers who have work experience in an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan. For selection, it is not important to have a job offer from the province. The applicants can create an EOI profile through the SINP’s online application system and can get themselves registered.
Candidates’ points are calculated as per their work experience, education qualification, language ability, age, and connections to the province to demonstrate their ability to settle in Saskatchewan. The total points are calculated out of 100, and it is the High scoring applicants who receive the ITA.
The Express Entry subcategory
The Express Entry program is an enhanced PNP, which is linked to the federal Express Entry system.
The Express Entry system creates a pool of skilled candidates, and three subcategories are generated for selection: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
The applicants have an EOI profile for Saskatchewan to be considered for an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination. The applicants who receive the nomination are awarded 600 points against their score. These points help in meeting the overall score in the federal express entry point score calculation.
