Express Entry draw figures for December 12

Canada Entry draw figures for December 12, 2018 are below.

The latest Express Entry draw took place on December 12, 2018, and once again a total of 3,900 candidates are set to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) as a result — the joint-highest number of invitations issued in any single draw so far this year. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off threshold stood at 445 points.

As in recent draws, a tie-break was applied. As multiple candidates may have 445 CRS points, those who have had a profile in the pool before November 28, 2018 at 09:51:43 UTC were prioritized.

The latest CRS cut-off is the same as the previous draw, which took place on November 28. With the exception of one draw in September, in which only candidates eligible under the Federal Skilled Trades Class were invited, the CRS cut-off has hovered between 440 and 450 since June, or for the past 13 draws in which all candidates in the pool were eligible for selection.

The December 12 draw brings the total number of invitations issued so far this year to 85,900, just short of the 86,022 issued in the whole of 2017. If another draw takes place before the end of this year, the total number of candidates invited will almost certainly overtake last year’s total.

The record low Express Entry cut-off threshold ever is 413. With Canada set to invite increasing numbers of Express Entry candidates over the coming years, thresholds around that number, and possibly lower, may become a reality.

On October 31, 2018, the government of Canada revealed its updated Canada Immigration Levels Plan for 2019-2021. It outlined Canada’s commitment to increase the numbers accepted through the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Class to around 256,000 over the next three years, with another 200,000 or so new permanent residents to settle through the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) before the end of 2021.

Many invited Express Entry candidates benefit from obtaining a provincial nomination through an Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream. You can get the latest updates on with PNP streams are open and available on our Canada PNP Live Tracker.

Moreover, changes to Express Entry have led to an increasing number of candidates who studied in Canada being invited to apply for permanent immigration to Canada.

See our study in Canada section for details.

More invitations are expected to be issued over the coming weeks, months, and years, benefiting individuals and families around the world wishing to make Canada their new permanent home.

The Comprehensive Ranking System is a score out of 1,200 used to benchmark federal economic applicants against one another.

It’s a part of the Express Entry mechanism, which was established in January 2015 to process residency applications.
