THE FIRST EVER EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW FOR STEM WORKERS
The First ever Express Entry draw for STEM Occupations was on July 05, 2023. Express Entry draw 254 saw a CRS score of 486 and invited 500 candidates eligible for category-based selection in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) occupations.

First STEM Category-Specific Draw
Express Entry draw 254 issued 500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of 486. This draw was the first ever category-specific draw for STEM occupations. Meaning that all candidates for this draw were selected from the STEM occupations.
According to the IRCC, future draws will be a mix of all-program draws, category specific draws and PNP specific draws.
STEM Occupations for Express Entry
A total of 24 occupations have been classified under the category-based STEM draws to be conducted in 2023.
In a recent announcement, IRCC stated that by prioritizing ITAs of skilled immigrants with STEM experience, Canada aims to support & sustain its growing demand for talent – and fill key positions that contribute to the country’s economic growth and technological advancement.
