Express Entry:
The Express Entry system of Canada is responsible for managing the three primary immigration streams of Canada. The three streams which the Express Entry manages are also referred to as the economic immigration streams. The immigration programs under the Express Entry are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
In the federal Express Entry system, the eligible candidates for the immigration streams, and also for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are allotted points that are based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) assesses the applicants on multiple factors. The valuation factors are age, education, skilled work experience, language proficiency in French or English. The candidates who get the highest scores, receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence. In 2020, Canada has issued over 78,350 ITAs so far, but, if we compare it to the year 2017, ITAs sent at that year were around 69,420. This graph illustrates the Immigration levels plan and actual ITAs.
The tie-breaking rule was also implemented in this draw. The date used was of March 2, 2020, and time 12:37:25 UTC. This suggests that the candidates who have a CRS score of 471, and above, who submitted their profiles before the above-mentioned date and time, they received an Invitation to Apply (ITA). The Express Entry draws usually involve the candidates from all the three immigration programs, but due to lockdown and travel sanctions, the changes in the policies were observed.
