Get a Job Offer from Yukon Employer

It’s your responsibility to find employment in the Yukon. The YNP does not play a role in recruitment or maintain a list of eligible Yukon employers.

If you do receive a job offer from a Yukon employer it’s important to know:

  • employers are not obligated to nominate foreign workers under the YNP; and
  • employers cannot, directly or indirectly, charge or collect a fee or receive any financial gain for nominating a foreign worker.

Find employment opportunities

Foreign workers can use many jobs sites to search for work in the Yukon. Some sites include, but are not limited to:

  • Canada Job Bank
  • Employment Central
  • Yuwin

Documents you need before you apply

Before you apply for a work permit, you need these documents to include in your application:

  • a copy of the nomination letter from the Government of Yukon confirming that you’ve been nominated for permanent residence
  • a signed letter of support from the Government of Yukon stating:
    • that the employers who are offering you the jobs need you to work in the community as soon as possible
    • that the job offers are genuine
    • the details of the job offers, including:
      • names of the employers
      • occupation
      • number of hours
      • job locations

If you cannot find work in Yukon

The YNP is driven by employers looking to fill critical vacancies when qualified Canadians or permanent residents cannot be found. As a result, the number of foreign workers accepted into the program is connected to job vacancies in the territory. If you cannot find work in the Yukon, then you cannot participate in the program.

Application Procedure

You must apply online for the work permit. You can’t apply on paper.

The application forms and process you need to follow depend on where you’re applying from.
